A jury convicted the defendant, Jason Keith Lormand, of two counts of first degree murder, violations of La.R.S. 14:30. However, the jury could not reach a unanimous decision during the sentencing phase of the trial, and the trial court then sentenced him on each count to life imprisonment at hard labor without benefit of probation, parole, or suspension of sentence.
