Appellant Jeffrey C. Russell suffered cardiac arrest and resulting brain damage when he collapsed while coaching youth hockey. Appellants sued Russell's physician, Dr. Randall K. Johnson, for negligence and negligent nondisclosure based on the physician's failure to advise Russell to limit his physical activities or to warn of the risk of sudden death from strenuous exercise.
