In September 1998, Carlos D. Jones sued Ruth F. Lanthrip and her employer, the Sylacauga Board of Education (the "Board"), alleging that Lanthrip had negligently caused the school bus she was driving to collide with his vehicle. Jones also alleged that the Board had negligently entrusted the school bus to Lanthrip.
