The employer and its compensation carrier, Silver Oak Casualty Inc., appeal a judgment ordering them to pay surgical costs for the amputation of claimant Laine Thomas's left arm, which was nearly severed in a logging accident. The physician who performed the surgery, Dr. John T. Knight, answers the appeal, seeking penalties and attorney fees. For the reasons expressed, we affirm in part, reverse in part and render.
