On or about July 21, 1998, Vick Anthony George filed a petition for postconviction relief pursuant to Rule 32, Ala.R.Crim.P., in which he attacked his August 14, 1996, guilty plea convictions for one count of rape in the first degree and one count of assault in the first degree.
