Dwayne Williams was indicted by the Louisiana Grand Jury on 22 May 1997 for the first-degree murder of Sean Thomas, a violation of La. R.S. 14:30, to which he pled not guilty. The trial court denied defendant's motion to suppress his statement and motion to quash the indictment. Following a two-day trial on the merits, on 29 May 1998, a twelve-member jury convicted defendant of manslaughter...
