Following a bench trial, the circuit court of Champaign County found defendant Lewis O'Brien guilty of driving an uninsured vehicle under section 3-707 of the Illinois Vehicle Code (Code) (625 ILCS 5/3-707 (West 1998)). The trial court imposed a fine of $501 plus court costs against defendant. The trial court subsequently denied defendant's motion for a new trial.
