Following a jury trial in November 1997, defendant, Kenneth Shief, was convicted of armed robbery (720 ILCS 5/18-2 (West 1999)), and attempted aggravated criminal sexual assault (720 ILCS 5/8-4(a); 12-14(a)(1) (West 1996)), and was subsequently sentenced to concurrent terms of 25 years and 15 years, respectively, in prison.
