Willie Jones checked himself into River-North Treatment Center in Alexandria for detoxification from alcohol and prescription drugs. He entered the hospital on August 8, 1992. On the morning of August 13, he was found dead in his bed. His son, Chris Jones, filed a medical malpractice suit for damages against Willie's treating physician, Dr. David Shepard.
