STATEMENT OF CASE

On October 6, 1998, the defendant was charged by bill of information with one count of aggravated battery in violation of La. R.S. 14:34. He pled not guilty at arraignment on October 13, 1998. On March 10, 1999, a six-person jury found the defendant guilty as charged, and on May 17, 1999, the court sentenced the defendant to serve ten years at hard labor, with credit for time served.
