OPINION

HALBROOKS, Judge.

Appellant Grace Skelly challenges the district court's conclusion that an individual must have a legal relationship with a decedent to recover for losses under Minn. Stat. § 340A.801, subd. 1 (2000). Finding the district court erred in its interpretation of the statute, we reverse and remand.
