A jury found appellant, the Broward County School Board ("School Board"), negligent and awarded $2,697,725.00 to appellee, Luis John Cruz ("Cruz"), a special education student who was injured by another student on school property, and $3,500,000 to Cruz's mother, appellee, Jane Alice Cruz ("Mrs.Cruz").
