While free on an appeal bond after the conviction, Maston was arrested, tried, and sentenced on a drug charge by federal authorities. As his release date from federal confinement was nearing, the State of Mississippi exercised its right to obtain custody of Maston's person in order to enforce the judgment of sentence on the Harrison County conviction...
