A jury found Salvador Vivit, a medical doctor, guilty of sixteen counts of mail fraud based on a scheme in which he and his patients submitted false claims to insurance companies that grossly overstated the amount of care he had provided. The district court sentenced Vivit to seventy-two months imprisonment for these offenses.
