Mr. Anderson was tried before a jury in an Illinois trial court and found guilty of first-degree murder, armed robbery, and aggravated kidnaping. He was sentenced to a life term, a 30-year term, and a 15-year term, respectively.1 He then appealed his conviction to the Appellate Court of Illinois; that court upheld his conviction.
