In the spring of 1994, Paul Giraud, Sr., applied a herbicide to his potato crops. Immediately after the crops were sprayed, Mr. Giraud observed that the plants appeared damaged. He consulted with the representative of Quincy Farm and Chemical, who selected and supervised the application of the herbicide, and a representative of the company that manufactured the herbicide.
