Renee Hooper and Michelle Ralph ("Claimants") are wives of two men who pleaded guilty to federal drug trafficking offenses. Their husbands' sentences included forfeiture of various assets, including the proceeds of drug sales and property purchased with those proceeds. See 21 U.S.C. § 853(a)(1). Claimants contested the criminal forfeiture, contending that as spouses they innocently acquired a fifty percent community property interest...
