The Defendant, Van Morrison, was charged with one count of second degree murder. The Defendant entered a plea of guilty to the reduced charge of manslaughter. Although the State recommended the trial court sentence the Defendant to twenty-six years at hard labor, the trial court rejected the recommendation and sentenced the Defendant to thirty-five years at hard labor.
