Defendant Lekenda Dawson was charged by bill of information on July 1, 1998 with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, a violation of La. R.S. 40:967(A) (Count 1), and possession of a dangerous weapon while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, a violation of La. R.S. 14:95(E) (Count 2).
