Yancey Stanley was charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, theft by taking, arson and giving a false name. He pled not guilty by reason of insanity, asserting that he could not distinguish between right and wrong at the time of the crimes. The case was then tried before a judge sitting without a jury.
