BOGGS, Circuit Judge.

This negligence action arises out of three deaths in the crash of a private plane. Michigan resident Brian Jiggens purchased a used Piper Cherokee airplane in March 1994 from American Flight & Technology. After purchasing the 18-year-old plane, Jiggens hired Plane Perfection of Goderich, Ontario, Canada to paint and refurbish it.
