Winifred Hardy had been treated for hypertension for many years. On January 27, 1991, she complained of nausea, vomiting, dizziness, diarrhea and elevated blood pressure, and reported that those symptoms had lasted several days. Hardy was treated in the emergency room of Mary Immaculate Hospital in New York and released.
