MOORE, Circuit Judge.

This appeal arises out of the litigation concerning the beating death of Malice Green at the hands of several Detroit police officers on November 5, 1992. The Estate of Malice Green ("the Estate") brought wrongful death and 42 U.S.C. § 1983 claims against the City of Detroit, resulting in a settlement of $5.25 million.
