Pursuant to prior judgments entered against him, defendant Marshall S. Sterman ("Sterman") owes the plaintiffs Xerox Financial Services Life Insurance Company and Van Kampen Merritt, Inc. ("Xerox/VKM") a combined total of more than $6 million. The plaintiffs' efforts at collection have been unsuccessful, and as a result this contentious litigation has lasted more than seven years.
