On March 2, 1988, Eara Nelson was convicted of indecency with a child and sentenced to ten years' imprisonment, probated. On November 13, 1998, the court found that Nelson had violated the terms of probation and reinstated his original sentence. Nelson filed a notice of appeal on November 20 and asked the trial court to provide a free reporter's record for the appeal. See Tex.R.App. P. 20.2. The court denied Nelson's request...
