NORCOTT, J.
In this certified appeal, we must decide whether the Appellate Court correctly concluded that the trial court: (1) properly refused to instruct the jury on the defendant's theory of imperfect self-defense; and (2) did not abuse its discretion in precluding the defendant from introducing into evidence certain of the victim's previous criminal convictions.
