After he was arrested on charges of criminal domestic violence, the police searched Respondent Taurus M. Cannon and found crack cocaine in his pocket. Respondent was convicted of possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute and sentenced to six years' imprisonment.1 Concluding the crack cocaine was inadmissible, the Court of Appeals reversed respondent's conviction and sentence.
