Defendant Jimmy Balentine was convicted by a jury of the class C felony of possession of an item that could be used to endanger the safety or security of a correctional center or the life and limb of an inmate or employee while on the premise of a correctional facility, in violation of § 217.360.1(4), RSMo Cum.Supp.1996. The court sentenced Mr. Balentine to ten years to be served consecutively to the sentence he was already serving...
