The debtor, Louis McLain, filed his Chapter 7 petition on December 8, 1998. Julie Scholl, the debtor's ex-wife, filed a complaint to determine the dischargeability of the debtor's debt to her arising from an obligation resulting from their divorce decree. Scholl argued that the debt is nondischargeable pursuant to 11 U.S.C. § 523(a)(5) because it is in the nature of alimony, support, or maintenance...
