On June 17, 1998, Robert A. Robbins was sentenced to death for capital murder in Craighead County. On July 9, 1998, Robbins's stand-by attorney filed a notice of appeal. Robbins waived his right to appeal and the trial court found that he had the capacity to knowingly and intelligently waive his right to appeal his death sentence.
