FINNEY, Chief Justice:

We granted a writ of certiorari to review the Court of Appeals' decision in Hicks v. Piedmont Cold Storage, Inc., 324 S.C. 628, 479 S.E.2d 831 (Ct.App.1996). We reverse.

The children of the deceased, Joseph Hicks, Sr., brought this workers' compensation action against employer, Piedmont Cold Storage, seeking death benefits...
