The indictment in this case charges defendant John Cuff with participating in a criminal organization known as the "Family" or the "Preacher Crew," whose members dealt drugs, principally cocaine in a form known as crack, and committed numerous acts of violence, including 17 actual murders and other conspiracies and attempts to murder, as well as several robberies and acts of extortion.
