The plaintiffs, Brenda Curtis ("Curtis") and Alvin Williamson ("Williamson"), former at-will employees of Citibank, N.A. ("Citibank"), brought this action alleging that they "were forced to work in a racially hostile environment" because the defendants sent, and one (James Captain) encouraged sending, electronic mail messages ("e-mails") that were allegedly offensive to African-Americans.
