A jury in King County Superior Court found Michael and Laurinda Jackson guilty of the second degree felony murder of their foster child, Breighonna Moore. The Jacksons each appealed their convictions to Division One of the Court of Appeals, which held that the trial court committed reversible error by including a "duty exists for a parent to come to the aid of their small children" element in its instruction to the jury regarding accomplice liability...
