Teresa S. Fryfogle was employed by Springhill Memorial Hospital ("Springhill") as a registered nurse. She injured her lower left abdominal musculature while at work on July 14, 1995. She received treatment for her injury and, ultimately, surgery. Approximately two weeks after the surgery, Fryfogle began complaining of constant pain in her lower back and legs.
