Defendant, Raymond E. Ciesler, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI) (625 ILCS 5/11-501(a)(2) (West 1996)) and illegal transportation of alcohol (625 ILCS 5/11-502(a) (West 1996)). The trial court determined that defendant's arrest was an invalid extraterritorial arrest and granted defendant's motion to quash his arrest and suppress evidence. The State appealed.
