Mary Touchard sued Ted Breaux, State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company, his liability insurer, and Southwest Louisiana Electric Membership Corporation (Slemco), his employer, for damages she sustained in a rear-end collision that occurred on April 1, 1996.
