In 1980 Gordon McCraney was convicted of voluntary manslaughter and two counts of felony murder. Fifteen years later, postconviction relief was granted and the convictions set aside based on newly discovered evidence. Although this largely factual determination of the postconviction court is to be reversed only upon a showing of clear error, the Court of Appeals found that the proffered evidence was not worthy of credit and reversed the postconviction...
