The State convicted Steven McDonald of arson in the first degree and the court sentenced him as a persistent offender. Standby counsel assisted him while he represented himself at trial, and he alleges on appeal that the trial court committed reversible error when it failed to make an adequate inquiry into standby counsel's asserted conflict of interest.
