Plaintiff, who was fired from his job while on paid sick leave, filed suit for damages against his former employer alleging defamation, intentional infliction of mental distress, and discrimination. The matter proceeded to trial on the merits, at which time the plaintiff pursued a claim for wrongful termination under the Family and Medical Leave Act. The trial court rendered judgment in favor of the employer
