{1} Defendant Terry Clark appeals his sentence of death for the murder of nine-year-old Dena Lynn Gore, pursuant to NMSA 1978, § 31-20A-4(A) (1979), which states that "[t]he judgment of conviction and sentence of death shall be automatically reviewed by the [S]upreme [C]ourt of the state of New Mexico."
