STATEMENT OF THE CASE

A jury found the defendant, Rayvell Finch, guilty as charged with possession of heroin, a violation of La. R.S. 40:966(A)(1). Defendant was adjudicated as a third-felony habitual offender on July 30, 1997, and sentenced that date to life imprisonment without benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence.
