LYONS, Justice.
Brenda L. Brock, the defendant in an action pending in the Jefferson Circuit Court, petitions for a writ of mandamus directing Judge Edward L. Ramsey to vacate his order of November 3, 1998, denying her motion to add Medicare and/or Blue Cross-Blue Shield of Alabama as a real party in interest in this case.
