Following a sheriff's sale of their home and a fire which destroyed the residence twelve days later, the plaintiffs brought this action for recovery of proceeds from a homeowner's insurance policy. The trial court held that the insurance company owed plaintiffs $78,095.49, representing the difference between the face value of the policy minus the portion paid to the mortgagee beneficiary under the policy.
