The defendant, William Jeff Cherry ("Cherry"), was charged with one count of attempted second degree murder, a violation of La. R.S. 14:27 and 14:30.1. After a bench trial, Cherry was found guilty of the responsive verdict of aggravated battery, a violation of La. R.S. 14:34.
