Defendant Gwendolyn F. Samuel pled not guilty to charges of possession of cocaine, a violation of La. R.S. 40:967(C), and simple escape, a violation of La. R.S. 14:110. On April 6, 1998, the trial court conducted a motion to suppress hearing. On June 4, 1998, the trial court denied defendant's motion to suppress. That same date defendant withdrew her prior not guilty pleas, and pleaded guilty as charged to both counts, reserving her right to appeal...
