This case involves a dispute in federal court between a former husband and wife over the priority to be accorded to two competing state court judgments entered in the courts of different states.

Both husband and wife had contacts with the states of Florida and New Jersey. On February 25, 1994 the husband sued for divorce in state court in Florida. On March 14 the wife was served with process under Fla. Stat. Ann. § 48.193...
