The Defendant, John Edwin Whiddon, was charged by bill of information with driving while intoxicated, third offense, in violation of La.R.S. 14:98. On December 3, 1997, he waived the formal reading of the bill of information and entered a plea of not guilty. On August 14, 1998, he withdrew his former plea of not guilty and entered a plea of guilty to the charge of third offense of driving while intoxicated (D.W.I.).
