Defendant, Nicholas L. Doguet, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder (720 ILCS 5/9-2(a)(1) (West 1994)) in exchange for the State's agreement not to seek an extended-term sentence. After the circuit court of Winnebago County sentenced him to an 11-year prison term, defendant filed a motion to reconsider sentence, which was denied.
