Appellant, Ralph Edward Johnson, pled guilty before a jury to the offense of murder. See TEX. PEN.CODE ANN. § 19.02 (Vernon 1994). The jury assessed punishment at ninety-nine years confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Institutional Division.
